Vinsanto 2014

The youngest Vinsanto from the Argyros winery, which shows what youth means for such a wine. A rigorous selection of overly old Assyrtiko, Aidani and Athiri vineyards in Episkopi, at least two hundred years old, dedicated specifically to this style. The grapes are harvested very ripe, almost a month after the main harvest date, resulting in extremely low yields. The grapes are dried in the sun for ten days, natural fermentation and three years of maturation take place in old concrete containers, with an additional four years of maturation in old wooden tanks. A lush wine where the fruit dominates. Aromas of dried fruits, apricots, figs, spices, sour cherries, cloves, vanilla, honey, nuts. Full body, very good structure, balanced acidity and long aftertaste.

Food recommendation
Kaimaki - ice cream with a few drops of wine added, aged cheese
Lava cake, brownies, feuilletine with chocolate ice cream

Argyros Estate

The Argyros winery was founded in 1903, but the Argyros family has been involved in wine production for decades. Each generation has contributed to the development of Argyros wines on both fronts. Matthaios (Matthew) Argyros, the fourth generation of winemakers, has been at the helm of Estate Argyros since 2004. He was the driving force behind the establishment of the new winery and the acquisition of further vineyard land. His attention to detail and profound knowledge of viticulture on Santorini guarantee that the winery's future is in safe hands. Argyros winery is the largest private owner of vineyards on Santorini, and these vineyards are very old, even by Santorini standards. The average age of the vines is over 70 years, while the oldest plots on the estate are more than two centuries old.
