Matthaios (Matthew) Argyros, the fourth generation of winemakers, has been at the helm of Estate Argyros since 2004. He was the driving force behind the establishment of the new winery and the acquisition of further vineyard land. Argyros winery is the largest private owner of vineyards on Santorini, and these vineyards are very old, even by Santorini standards. The average age of the vines is over 70 years, while the oldest plots on the estate are more than two centuries old.
