Made from 100% Xinomavro grapes, the Pata Trava 2023 is a pure and expressive wine from Domaine Ligas in Pella, Macedonia. The grapes are hand-harvested and gently pressed to obtain a fine Blanc de Noirs must , which is then spontaneously fermented with wild yeasts at cool temperatures. After fermentation, the wine rests on its fine lees for six months, gaining structure, depth, and aromatic complexity. It is bottled unfiltered with minimal added sulfur – perfectly in keeping with the Ligas family's natural philosophy and the authentic expression of their terroir. In the glass, the Pata Trava 2023 displays a luminous rosé color with orange-copper highlights – radiant, transparent, and elegant. The bouquet is complex and vibrant, with notes of citron, bergamot, quince, and orange peel, accompanied by delicate, spicy hints of tomato jam and brioche. Subtle yeasty notes and a touch of toasty aroma add further depth. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, refined, and precise, with lively acidity and a fine tannin structure that provides tension. Domaine Ligas, a small family winery in Greece, has operated according to the principles of biodynamic viticulture and permaculture since its founding. With a genuine interest in Greek grape varieties, nature, and its richness and diversity, Thomas Ligas instinctively developed his own sustainable farming model that fosters harmony between soil, vines, animals, and people.
