Autochthonous 2022

The Autochtone 2020 is a natural white wine made from the Furmint , Hárslevelű , and Kéknyelű grape varieties, grown on volcanic basalt soil on Szent György hill . The grapes are hand-harvested at various stages of ripeness, fermented with brief skin contact , and aged in traditional amphorae . The wine displays a hazy, intense golden-yellow color and exudes aromas of candied citrus fruits. Lime zest, preserved lemon, wild herbs, and a subtle smokiness. With aeration, floral and herbal notes develop. On the palate, the 2020 Autochtone impresses with fresh citrus fruit, pronounced salinity, and clear, lively Acidity. An exotic spiciness and a refreshingly tart finish round off the taste experience. Despite its power, the wine has a moderate alcohol content of 12%. An expressive natural wine that authentically reflects the volcanic terroir typical of Hungary.

Food recommendation:

Halászlé (Hungarian fish soup): The 2020 Autochthonous wine, with its lively acidity and mineral structure, harmonizes perfectly with the robust, paprika-spiced aromas of the Halászlé. The wine's citrus and herbal notes beautifully complement the freshness of the freshwater fish, resulting in a balanced and refreshing experience.

Borsófőzelék (Pea Dish): The creamy, slightly sweet Borsófőzelék pairs perfectly with the fresh citrus acidity and subtle saltiness of the 2020 Autochtone. The wine's herbal aromas accentuate the earthy notes of the peas, making the combination pleasantly rounded and vibrant.

Serving tip: Decant the 2022 Autochtone before serving and do not serve it too cold (around 12–14 °C). The wine's complex aromas and vibrant minerality are best appreciated in a larger glass.
