Assyrtiko

The 2023 Assyrtiko from Muses Estate is an authentic expression of this noble Greek grape variety – this time not from the famous island of Santorini, but from the Greek mainland: from the highlands of the Viotia region. The old bush vines produce concentrated, aromatic grapes. The wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation and then spends a full eight months on the lees, which lends it complexity, depth, and an elegant creaminess on the palate. In the glass, it displays a bright lemon yellow color. The nose is captivating with fresh aromas of citrus fruits, green apple, white peach, and delicate floral notes. These are complemented by a pronounced, saline minerality, typical of high-quality Assyrtiko wines. On the palate, it is precise and vibrant, with pronounced acidity, subtle creaminess from lees contact, and structured depth. An expressive and characterful white wine, ideal for connoisseurs and lovers of Greek wines with terroir and style.

Food recommendation : It goes perfectly with grilled fish – sea bream or sea bass – refined with fresh wild herbs and fava or with stuffed vine leaves with rice and egg-lemon sauce.

Muses Estate

The vineyards lie at an altitude of 450-520 meters on the slopes of the Valley of the Muses, where the inspiring goddesses of literature, science, and the arts lived, and are part of the larger Viotia vineyard. Here, viticulture has a history spanning millennia, and wine is deeply intertwined with the local culture. In 2005, the founding year of Muses Estate, it was time for Nikos, Stelios, and Panayiotis, the third generation, to take their place in the family business. Their skills, scientific knowledge, and fresh ideas, combined with family tradition and experience, helped the Muses winery take another step into the 21st century.
