Pianvecchio from Tenuta di Carleone is an organic white cuvée from Tuscany, based on Vermentino, Trebbiano and Malvasia, with small additions of Traminer and Riesling. The grapes come from organically farmed vineyards around Radda, are harvested by hand, gently pressed as whole bunches and fermented spontaneously with native yeasts. Fermentation and ageing take place in cement and used wooden barrels, allowing the wine to breathe and gain texture without being marked by new oak.
In the glass, Pianvecchio shows a bright straw-yellow colour with light green highlights. The nose offers citrus blossom, ripe quince, peach and melon, joined by fennel green, chamomile, herbs and a subtle smoky nuance. On the palate, it is straight and focused, with crisp, linear acidity, juicy yellow fruit, a fine chalky-mineral texture and a gentle creaminess derived from the soils and élevage. Its lively freshness and salty edge give it an almost alpine profile that makes you briefly forget it’s a Tuscan white.
Pianvecchio is a highly versatile food wine: it pairs beautifully with grilled fish, marinated seafood, roasted vegetables, risotto or modern vegetable-based cuisine wherever freshness, structure and finesse are needed in the glass. It is a white wine without ornamentation, capturing the rhythm of nature, soil and grape in a clear, precise way.
