Santorini PDO 2022

Akra Chryssos Santorini Assyrtiko is a true masterpiece of Greek winemaking, offering a unique terroir in every glass. This P.D.O. Santorini wine reflects the long-standing tradition and expertise of the Chryssos family in viticulture. The family’s 50-year-old, estate-owned Assyrtiko vineyards are located in the renowned wine-growing villages of Pyrgos, Megalochori, and Akrotiri, perfectly situated to produce some of the island’s finest wines.

Produced using organic practices, the grapes are hand-harvested to ensure the highest quality. The wine is crafted through gentle, natural winemaking methods, utilizing native yeasts and minimal sulfur additions. After spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the wine rests on its lees for 7 months, developing its full complexity and depth.

Akra Chryssos

Akra Chryssos is the natural continuation of a deep-rooted, multi-generational connection with the vineyards of Santorini – a place where tradition and innovation meet harmoniously. Under the direction of winemaker Spyros Chryssos, representing the fourth generation of the family, the winery draws inspiration from centuries of local winemaking history and cultural heritage. At the heart of this philosophy is a deep connection to the land and the family, cultivating old Assyrtiko vines using the traditional Kouloura method – deeply rooted in volcanic soils and shaped by the strong Aegean winds and intense sun. Each bottle is a true reflection of the unique terroir of Santorini – an expression of place, heritage and the quiet passion of those who care for the vines.
