Art and wine are at the heart of Fattoria Le Masse. This small estate is located in Barberino Tavarnelle in the Valle d'Elsa and was acquired by Paolo Mugnaini in the early 1950s. His son Alberto, an artist, art critic, and journalist, produced cask wine almost as a side project. After his death, his wife, the Berlin-based artist Christiane Kammann, along with their two children, took over the estate in 2006. Since 2018, Robin has managed the winery and implemented biodynamic principles. His daughter Lea, based in Berlin, supports the artistic side of the business and offers artist residencies. The wines themselves are true works of art, preserving old grape varieties and traditions. In addition to the official Chianti Classico, there is the Santa Goccia, an old-school Chianti with 10% Trebbiano, and the Timeo, a single-varietal Canaiolo. White wines and olive oils are also produced.
