The brothers Aristos and Stathis Spanos grew up in the region and have been involved in viticulture and wine production since they were children. In 1999 they met Panagiotis Papagiannopoulos, a local oenologist, and the first bottles of Tetramythos came onto the market the same year. In the following years, new vines were planted and in 2003 the production of the first bottles of wine began. Tetramythos is a boutique winery on the Peloponess, in Kalavryta and the vineyards are located between 600 - 1050m altitude. From the beginning, the vineyards have been cultivated organically and partly biodynamically. Panajotis the Winemaker is one of Greece's most talented and innovative winemakers. They have been experimenting many years, especially with natural wine. The result is simply overwhelming. Everything is stable and clean vinified. You can tell the tension, depth and character of the wines. Nothing seems artificial or embellished here. The retsina from the amphora in particular is a big statement!
