The brothers Aristos and Stathis Spanos grew up in the region and have been involved in viticulture and wine production since they were children. In 1999 they met Panagiotis Papagiannopoulos, a local oenologist, and the first bottles of Tetramythos came onto the market that same year. In the following years, new vines were planted and in 2003 the production of the first bottles of wine began. Tetramythos is a boutique winery on the Peloponess, in Kalavryta and the vineyards are located between 600 - 1050 m altitude. From the beginning, the vineyards have been cultivated organically and partly biodynamically. Panajotis the Winemaker is one of Greece's most talented and innovative winemakers. They have been experimenting a lot for years, especially with natural wine. The result is simply overwhelming. Everything is stable and cleanly vinified. You can tell the tension, depth and character of the wines. Nothing seems artificial or embellished here. The retsina from the amphora in particular makes a big statement!
Pét-Nat 2022 ORGANIC
The wine is made in small batches from organic grapes grown at an altitude of 850m and hand-harvested from unirrigated bush vines. Tetramythos Winery Pét Nat Nature is a classic white wine made from free-run must. Fermentation with wild yeasts followed by spontaneous malolactic fermentation. The wine is bottled unfiltered, without added sulfites and unfined while it is still fermenting (with approx. 10 g of residual sugar). This traps the ongoing production of carbon dioxide gas in the bottle, resulting in gentle carbonation with a semi-sparkling effect. Fruit aromas such as unripe peach, apricot along with floral aromas of white flowers and acacia. Notes of honey, nuts, but also oxidative. Medium body with velvety bubbles in the mouth and dry finish.
