The vineyards lie at an altitude of 450-520 m on the slopes of the Valley of the Muses, where the inspiring goddesses of literature, science and the arts lived, and are part of the larger Viotia vineyard. Viticulture here has a thousand-year-old history and wine is closely linked to the local culture.
In 2005, the year Muses Estate was founded, it was time for Nikos, Stelios and Panayiotis, the third generation, to take their place in the family business. Their skills, scientific knowledge and fresh ideas combined with family tradition and experience helped the Muses winery take another step into the 21st century.
Mouhtaro 2021
12 months in 2-3 year old oak barrels of 225L and 6 months in bottle before release. Some vines are 60 years old and older. It has a medium purple color and rich aromas of forest fruits, blackcurrants, raspberries, cherries, figs and sour cherries. Violet, toffee, vanilla, eucalyptus and mint complement the unique bouquet. On the palate intense fruit aromas of wild strawberries, blueberries, sour cherries and blackberries with aromas of violets reveal one of the most interesting grape varieties you will know.
